Saturday May 19, Michigan's own Polka Riot will be rotating with New Generation from Pulaski, WI, at the Saginaw, MI Pulaski Hall. Saginaw's Pulaski Hall is on Weiss Rd, off of Midland Rd. The music starts at 7, but the kitchen will be open at 5:30 with a full menu and wait staff for dinner until 10. Only $10 at the door. 3rd ANNUAL JAMMERTHON - May 18, 19, & 20th, 2012

Next weekend, The Polka Jammer Network will be holding their 3rd annual JammerThon. The goal is to raise $15,000 to cover our yearly operating expenses to keep the Polka Jammer Network on the air.

This event will take place next Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, May 18th, 19th, & 20th beginning with the POLKA NITE CAP SHOW with Todd Zaganiacz at 6pm Eastern Time on Friday and end at 7pm Eastern Time on Sunday. We have scheduled 29 hours of LIVE programming with pre-recorded shows during the overnight hours. During the JammerThon, the archive will be CLOSED. As was done last year, all shows will be recorded and placed in the archive on Monday morning.

Todd Zaganiacz has put together a new LIVE CD offering called JAM WITH US – VOLUMES 1 & 2. Each CD has 24 selections recorded LIVE and will be available for a donation of $35.00 for either Volume 1 or 2, or $50.00 for both. We will also be offering our earlier releases, and listeners who donate $100.00 will have a choice of 5 LIVE CD’s.

Listeners will have the option of donating via an online form, PayPal, or our brand new TOLL-FREE number: 1-866-860-2525.

Operators, many our own IJ's as well as famous band members will be on hand to take listener pledges Friday from 6pm – Midnight Eastern Time, Saturday from 7am – Midnight Eastern Time, Sunday from 7am – 7pm Eastern Time.

My sister moved out to Buffalo a few years ago and is now getting married there next year. She won't go for an all out Polka Band so my dad is looking for either a polka band that can do it all or a variety band that can play a decent polka too. Construction update: There is some construction on I-90/94 near Portage, and in a few other places. However, traffic is flowing quite nicely and shouldn't be too much of a problem.

On Sunday May 20, 2012, Mike Surratt will be performing with the “Continentals” at Blob’s Park in Jessup, Maryland to celebrate his 40+ year musical career and the group’s 40th Anniversary. The Continentals of Washington, DC was formed in May 1972 and has been under the leadership of Accordionist/Keyboardist Mike Surratt since their humble beginning as a "German" Oom-Pah band. In their 39+ year history the band increased their repertoire incorporating many different ethnic styles of polka and waltz music, plus popular dance hits from the 1940's thru today. Many have tried to label this versatile group of musicians over the years, but most have faced the music that they just have to expect the unexpected at any given Continentals performance.
The Continentals certainly have created their own niche in the music world and have performed throughout the USA at Festivals, Dances, Concerts, Radio/TV, and on 9 Cruises to far away destinations. They have also produced 9 recordings and received airplay on more than 400 terrestrial radio stations and countless plays on internet radio broadcasts and websites.

Past achievements include a "Maryland Governor's Citation" presented during their 20th Anniversary celebration and Mike Surratt is a recipient of the "German-American Friendship Award" presented by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Their most recent recognitions were 2010, 2009 & also a 2008 "Wammie" (Washington Area Music Association Award) nominations for "Best World Music Group. They continue to make new fans wherever they perform and are definitely...

DYNGUS DAY IN BUFFALO

For the general information of those who were not there, Dyngus Day in Buffalo was unbelieveable this year. Everywhere we went the crowds were enormous. What a tremendous turnout. When you go to an event, and not only is the dance floor full, and no seats available, and no standing room available, and no aisles to walk through, but when you can't even get in the door, you know it is a great crowd. The only problem is how to get to see, hear, and dance to all the bands playing at essentially the same time. We ran our dupas off going from venue to venue, and heard and danced to 8 bands in 5 different locations.
A big thanks and congrats to the organizers of this weekend for all the work they did to create such a spectacular event, and we can't wait to do it all over again next year.
