The passing of Jan Cyman
  • SiteAdmin January 30
It is with deep regret to inform you that our musical brother and friend has passed away on Sunday January 29.
Jan Cyman was a member of The New Brass where he contributed substantially with his talent for trumpet and vocals.
A happy -go-lucky character that was always up and passionate about his music and will not be forgotten..
Our deepest condolences to Judy and the family for their loss.
He will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances and his musical brothers.

    Rest in Peace my brother.

I have not heard of final arraignments for his funeral but I suspect by the time you receive my email it will be published over the Internet.
I would guess he will be interred in the Orlando FL. area.

    Sadly,

Mitch has written a nice, touching tribute to Jan. This really seesm like the passing of an era---to many of us , I'm sure, because when Jan was young, we were young, too, and over the years we've all been aging with him --- Jan moved around in the country a lot over the years , so people from much of the polka country met him, lived in his neighborhood at one time or another , and heard him play more than most ---and I'll bet that more musicians have played or jammed with Jan over the years than with most ( or maybe any other) musicians. On the "other polka site," Judy Cyman told us that , fortunately, Jan passed away in maybe the nicest possible way : He fell asleep on a couch, surrounded by his grandchildren, and simply never woke up - Actually let's hope that he did wake up , not in this life, of course, but in "polka heaven : That's where he definitely deserved to go , given all his years of playing his heart out for the public and wholehearted devotion to the music.
